Microdermabrasion - The Treatment Microdermabrasion is performed by passing a hand held device that uses a highly controlled flow of fine, medical grade crystals over the skin. These crystals, delivered at high velocity onto the skin surface are immediately vacuumed away, taking the top-most layer of dead skin cells with it. This skin exfoliating process improves the tone and texture of the skin and also reveals the new, living skin cells that are soft and smooth. Following Microdermabrasion the skin is in a better condition to absorb anti-ageing and acne creams. At the same time the underlying epidermis is also stimulated by the treatment and this promotes new collagen, thickening the dermis and improving the resistance to the effects of ageing. Yes, microdermabrasion can be used for all skin types on all areas of the body and face.
Can men have this treatment too?
Yes this is a great treatment for men as you can choose to not have a mask, incase this makes it feel a 'girly' treatment. However men can of course have the full treatment including collagen regenerating mask if they wish to do so.
How quickly will my client see results?
They will see results immediately and with each subsequent treatment their skin will continue to look progressively better.
How many treatments should clients have?
SkinBase recommend a course of 8, people with acne or acne scarring might need more treatments and we recommend a monthly maintenance treatment after the course has finished to help maintain the results achieved.
How often should clients have a treatment?
Treatments are usually performed every 7 to 10 days.
Are there any side effects to the treatment?
After the treatment, the skin may feel tight with mild redness. Therefore it is important that clients use a good moisturiser. These effects normally subside within 24 hours of treatment
